Dual Language, Trilingual, Language Restoration, and Culturally Responsive Approaches to Early Childhood Education

Land Acknowledgement: The Center for Linguistic and Cultural Democracy acknowledges that our work takes place on Indigenous land: the traditional territory of Coast Salish peoples, particularly the Suquamish, S’Klallam, Muckleshoot, Duwamish, Snoqualmie, Puyallup, Tulalip, and Nisqually peoples.

Purpose: The Center for Linguistic and Cultural Democracy (CLCD) is a non-profit educational and cultural arts organization that engages children, families, teachers, and artists in creating cultural democracy, equity in education, and social ecology through seminars, cultural arts, and participatory action research. CLCD is the home of Soy Bilingüe, Teaching Umoja, and Caribbean Seafest. CLCD helps build cultural and educational capacity in our communities by supporting parents, teachers, and artists working on their GED, CDA, AA, AAS, BA, MA, MFA, and Doctoral degrees focusing on African and Indigenous languages, social ecology, cultural arts, multicultural education, and linguistically and culturally responsive early childhood education.
